Acetone - C3H6O

Acetone is a colourless, water-soluble and very flammable fluid with a smell similar to ether. It is industrial produced through gas phase oxidation of propane. Acetone has the chemical formula C3H6O and the structural formula (CH3)2CO.

It is for example used as a solvent in different plastics and lacquer.

Acetone is irritating for eyes and mucous membrane and has a drying effect if it gets in contact with skin.
