Formaldehyde - CH2O

Formaldehyde is a colourless gas with a characteristic, pungent smell. The gas is easily dissolved in water. Formaldehyde has the chemical formula CH2O and the structural formula of Formaldehyde is CH2=O.

Formaldehyde is produced through dehydrogenation of methanol in gaseous phase over a solid catalyst (silver or copper).
